Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abel Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Fuckin' In The Bushes. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Abel Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Rex Richards!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Richards throws a nice inside leg kick.
Richards takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Richards fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
Richards fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Richards has his takedown stuffed
and Khan counters with a straight right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Richards dives in and scores a takedown into Khan's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Khan is pulling down on Richards's head. It's preventing any offense from Richards, at least for the moment.
Richards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Khan wants to get back to his feet but Richards is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Richards lands a couple of elbows.
Richards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Khan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Richards throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Khan looking for a sweep. Not yet Khan, not yet.
Richards throws a big elbow that misses.
Khan controlling the position.
Richards has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Richards lands a couple of digs.
Richards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Khan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Khan pulls Richards in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Richards's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Richards scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Richards distracts Khan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Khan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khan is trying to keep Richards in close.
Richards looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Richards drops back, looking for a kneebar! Khan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Khan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Khan!

Khan decides to stand back up.
Richards shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Abel Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Richards.
Richards fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Khan on the side of the head.
Richards bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Khan misses with a straight right.
Richards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khan defends it nicely.
Richards shoots in looking for a takedown. Khan tries to sprawl out of it but Richards keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Richards throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Khan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Richards is in Khan's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Richards drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Richards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Khan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Richards manages to get himself to full guard.

Richards looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Richards had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Khan defends it easily.

Richards has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Khan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Richards.

Khan stands up.
Rex Richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Richards bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Khan's head.
Khan on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Khan throws a head kick but Richards moves out of range.
Richards tries for a takedown but Khan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Richards does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Good exchange - Richards coming out on top.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Richards tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Richards somewhat.
Horrible takedown by Richards or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rex Richards will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Richards is rocked!
Khan is stalking Richards. Richards circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Khan, and it's lights out! Richards really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Abel Khan!
