PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Sayre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sayre comes to the cage accompanied by A Country Boy Can Survive. Escobar has chosen Dr. Kitch as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Teddy Sayre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pablo Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sayre throws a nice looking combination but Escobar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Escobar throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Escobar drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sayre utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Escobar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Escobar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Escobar is fighting to break Sayre's control of his arms but Sayre is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Teddy Sayre has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Escobar throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Sayre catches Escobar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Escobar moves into the clinch.

Sayre is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Escobar is defending well for now.
Escobar throws an elbow that misses.
Sayre blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Sayre escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sayre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Escobar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sayre misses with a combination
and Escobar counters with a nice kick to the body.

Sayre gets tackled into the cage by Escobar. Escobar maintains the clinch.
Sayre tries to stall but Escobar uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Escobar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Escobar throws a sloppy head kick and Sayre moves out of range easily.
Sayre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sayre moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

A thudding body kick lands there by Escobar!
Sayre is looking to clinch.
Escobar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Escobar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Escobar on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Sayre tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Sayre clinches up against the cage.
Escobar misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A body shot lands from Sayre.
Sayre misses with the head strike.
Escobar fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Sayre blocking some punches.

Sayre pushes Escobar back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Escobar has Sayre pressed against the cage, preventing Sayre from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Sayre is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Escobar has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sayre avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pablo Escobar will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Escobar goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Escobar throws a sloppy head kick and Sayre moves out of range easily.
Escobar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Escobar pushes Sayre up against the cage in a clinch.
Escobar blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Sayre missing with knees to the body.
Sayre throws a head punch that misses.
Sayre pushes off an throws an elbow but Escobar leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Escobar struggles to land a body shot inside as Sayre controls his hands.
Escobar tries to work over Sayre's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Escobar prevents a body shot from Sayre.
Sayre misses with an elbow strike.
Sayre takes a knee to the side of the body.
Escobar stalls.

Escobar has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sayre after a bit of a struggle.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Teddy Sayre has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Escobar blocks a body shot from Sayre.
Escobar is trying to maintain a safe position but Sayre gets an underhook and turns Escobar into the cage.
Escobar using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sayre has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Escobar will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sayre up against the cage.

Sayre's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Sayre swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Escobar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sayre walks away with a smile on his face. Escobar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Escobar is leaning against Sayre and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Sayre lands a right hand that snaps the head of Escobar backwards.

That was a close second round but I would say that Teddy Sayre will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sayre can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Sayre can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Escobar is looking to escape.

I would just about give that final round to Pablo Escobar.
I think Escobar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
