Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Coach!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gray Pleman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coach throws a hook to the side of Pleman's head but Pleman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Coach scores with the left hand. Pleman knows he should have avoided that one.
Pleman keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Coach.
James Coach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Coach throws a hook to the side of Pleman's head but Pleman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Coach attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Coach misses with a leg kick.
Coach takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Coach goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Coach scores with the left hand. Pleman knows he should have avoided that one.

Coach misses with a double jab.
Pleman wants to clinch up but Coach keeps it at a distance.
Coach clobbers Pleman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Coach misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fighters circling - Coach throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pleman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Coach sprawls well. Coach wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pleman gets slowly back to his feet.

Pleman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Coach lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pleman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Coach is just riding it out for now. Pleman eventually gives up the hold.
Pleman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Coach is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pleman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Coach is now in Pleman's guard. A big mistake from Pleman there, giving up the dominant position!

Pleman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Coach stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pleman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Coach wants to control from the top but Pleman keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coach looking to sit in guard and control but Pleman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Coach dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Coach throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pleman.

Coach throws a right and a left that Pleman avoids nicely.
Coach throws a leg kick which misses Pleman's front leg but catches the back leg as Pleman tries to avoid it.

Coach throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pleman's corner calls for a 1-2. Pleman obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Pleman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pleman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Coach paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Coach misses with a hook. Pleman ducked under it nicely.

Coach thows a left - swing and a miss!
Pleman tries to clinch up but Coach circles away and keeps his distance.

Coach throws a nice inside leg kick.

Pleman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pleman lands in his opponent's guard.

Pleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Coach is retaining full guard.
Coach is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pleman trying to control but Coach is working from the bottom.

Pleman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Coach manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pleman has Coach in his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pleman keeping moving, preventing Coach from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of James Coach.
Coach misses with a low kick.
Pleman takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Pleman is trying to work for a kimura but Coach is defending well.

Pleman working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Coach's thigh. Coach counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Pleman stands and throws Coach's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pleman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Coach rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pleman's guard! Nice work there by Coach!
Pleman seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
