Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Conrado Guerra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conrado Guerra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Rua!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Rua misses the target.
Guerra fails in his attempt to clinch.
Guerra tries to clinch but Rua is having none of it.
Guerra stuffs the takedown attempt from Rua. Rua gets slowly back to his feet.
Guerra dives in and grabs Rua's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rua pushes down on Guerra's head and hops out.
Rua fails with the takedown.
Rua moves in looking to clinch but Guerra pushes him off.
Rua shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Guerra defends it nicely.
Conrado Guerra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Rua.
Rua stuffs the takedown.
Guerra blocks a jab.
Guerra is looking to clinch but Rua is avoiding it.

Guerra looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rua!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guerra misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Guerra get's back to his feet.
Guerra scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
Rua throws the left hand but Guerra avoids the punch easily.
Guerra darts in trying to clinch
and Rua makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rua misses with a wild combination.
Rua keeps the fight on the outside.
Rua misses with a looping right.
Guerra doesn't manage to clinch there - Rua circles away.
Guerra wants to clinch up but Rua keeps it at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rua shoots in looking for a takedown. Guerra tries to sprawl out of it but Rua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Guerra manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rua pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rua circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rua closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Guerra's guard.
Rua stays in close to Guerra's body and controls the position.
Rua prevents Guerra from getting back to his feet.
Rua trying to control but Guerra is working from the bottom.
Rua scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guerra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rua stands up over Guerra, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rua looking to pass the guard.
Rua is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Guerra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Guerra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rua got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guerra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rua has managed to get both his arms back between Guerra's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rua in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rua wants to control from the top but Guerra keeps moving.
Rua trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rua stands up over Guerra, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rua won't allow Guerra to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guerra has momentary wrist control but Rua slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Guerra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rua trying to control but Guerra is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauricio Rua dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mauricio Rua's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rua looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rua ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Guerra moves away.
Conrado Guerra is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rua misses with a body shot

and Guerra moves into the clinch.
Guerra is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rua pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rua makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Guerra tries to land knees in the clinch but Rua avoids the damage to the body.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Guerra.
Rua gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Guerra.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Rua.
A head punch on the inside from Rua fails to land.
Rua is pressed up against the cage. Guerra has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rua down to the mat. Rua avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conrado Guerra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice sprawl there from Rua as Guerra shoots in.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guerra paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guerra leaves Rua with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rua. Guerra does a little dance to reset his feet.
Guerra shoots in but Rua avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rua, right into the meat.
Rua throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rua misses with a wild body shot.
Guerra closes the distance and clinches up with Rua, looking for a takedown. Guerra pushes Rua against the cage but Rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rua throws a chopping leg kick but Guerra manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Guerra tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rua manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rua.
Guerra moves out of range of the body kick from Rua.

Rua feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rua throws a strike but Guerra rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rua is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guerra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rua dives on top into guard.

Rua trying to control the position from guard on top but Guerra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Guerra keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.
Guerra working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rua.
Rua is in close to Guerra's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rua trying to control but Guerra is working from the bottom.

Guerra has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Rua should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Guerra has tightened it up now! Rua should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Conrado Guerra!
