PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diller Bertrand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pytorvra Narcus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diller Bertrand!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pytorvra Narcus!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Narcus.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Narcus in side control lands a decent elbow.
Bertrand can't do much from the bottom here.
Bertrand stops Narcus from passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Narcus in particular looking to stall.

Narcus passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bertrand!
Bertrand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Narcus on the ground.

Narcus manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Narcus lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bertrand!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bertrand lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Narcus at a distance.
Narcus throws a head kick but Bertrand moves out of range.
Bertrand throws a right and a left that Narcus avoids nicely.

Narcus clinches up against the cage.

Narcus pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bertrand trying to control the position from guard on top but Narcus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Narcus pushes Bertrand off and gets back to his feet.

Bertrand changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Narcus tries to avoid it but Bertrand manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Narcus to the ground. Narcus escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bertrand working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Narcus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Narcus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Narcus stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bertrand to get to his feet.

Narcus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bertrand doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Bertrand fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Narcus avoids it really well and circles away.
Narcus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Narcus drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Narcus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bertrand's head.
Narcus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bertrand's guard.

Narcus postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bertrand to stand up.

Narcus stays in close to Bertrand's body and controls the position.
Narcus is in close to Bertrand's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Narcus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Pytorvra Narcus has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bertrand is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bertrand will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Narcus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pytorvra Narcus hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Narcus fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Bertrand is out of range.

Narcus wants to clinch up but Bertrand keeps it at a distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bertrand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diller Bertrand. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bertrand blocks a head kick by Narcus.
Narcus is looking to land body kicks.
Bertrand closes this distance looking for a takedown but Narcus circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pytorvra Narcus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Narcus shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Narcus was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bertrand wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Bertrand rolls, trying to escape but Narcus keeps control of the position.
Bertrand looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Narcus is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Bertrand is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Bertrand gets caught napping as Narcus dives in and scores a takedown. Bertrand manages to retain guard.
Narcus stands and throws Bertrand's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Narcus has control of an arm but Bertrand manages to advance to Narcus's back!
Bertrand doesn't have the hooks in and Narcus manages to turn into his guard.
Narcus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Bertrand tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Narcus decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Narcus closes the distance and clinches.
Bertrand is trying to pull guard but Narcus turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Narcus tries to break the clinch but Bertrand is controlling the position.

Narcus pulls guard successfully.
Bertrand trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Narcus wriggles free and stands up.
Diller Bertrand has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Narcus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bertrand looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Narcus decides to stand back up. Narcus steps back and let's Bertrand get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Narcus throws a nice looking combination but Bertrand bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bertrand really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

so Narcus counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pytorvra Narcus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pytorvra Narcus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Narcus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
