Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Byron Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Weddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Archie Eversole - We Ready. Weddle is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by remember the name - fort minor. Wes Weddle has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wes Weddle!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weddle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nelson lands a head kick. Weddle smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Nelson thows a body kick. Weddle tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Weddle throws a body kick the misses
and Nelson counters with a good, hard body kick but Weddle shrugs it off.
Weddle throws an overhand right that lands on Nelson's shoulder, as Nelson tries to avoid the shot.
Weddle fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nelson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Weddle.
Wes Weddle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice leg kick lands there from Nelson.

Weddle darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.
Weddle can't get the takedown.
Weddle wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Nelson scores with a nice short uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nelson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Weddle has had enough of the clinch but Nelson keeps him there for the moment.
Nelson lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Wes Weddle has been cut.
Weddle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Weddle misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Nelson lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Nelson lands with a left to the head.

Weddle gets underhooks to prevent Nelson's takedown attempt.
Nelson lands an elbow inside that Weddle shrugs off.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Weddle tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control.
Weddle manages to get to full guard.
Nelson won't allow Weddle to sweep him here.

Weddle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nelson wants to control from the top but Weddle keeps moving.

Byron Nelson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Nelson counters with a nice leg kick.

Weddle takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A slapping leg kick lands for Nelson.

Weddle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nelson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Weddle moves in looking to clinch but Nelson pushes him off.
Nelson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Weddle looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nelson throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Weddles head.
Weddle is working for takedown but Nelson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Weddle is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Nelson lands a nice knee to the body.
Nelson blocks a body shot from Weddle.

Nelson gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Nelson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Weddle sees it coming and defends easily.
Nelson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Weddle!

Weddle defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Nelson.

Nelson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Weddle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Weddle shrugs it off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Nelson tries to keep at a distance but Weddle has taken the fight into the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Nelson throws an elbow but misses.
Weddle is trying to break the clinch but Nelson has him pressed against the cage.
Weddle is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Nelson trying to control the position but instead, Weddle has worked for underhooks and has pushed Nelson into the cage.

Weddle works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Weddle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nelson is trying to control the position but Weddle postures up.
Weddle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Byron Nelson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nelson misses with the combination.
Nelson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Weddle takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nelson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nelson wants it to stay on the feet.
Nelson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Weddle if he has to take too many more of those.
Weddle ducks right into an uppercut from Nelson.


Weddle is rocked!
Nelson seems to be stalking Weddle here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Weddle drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
