The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eyre misses with a body shot.
Apila cracks Eyre with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Apila connects with a leg kick. Eyre looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Eyre throws a body punch but Apila moves out of range.
Eyre misses with a takedown attempt - Apila sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Apila counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Eyre fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Apila manages to avoid it.
Eyre fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Apila avoids it really well and circles away.
Apila feints and then cracks Eyre's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Eyre down.
Apila bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

The fighters circling - Eyre throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Apila clinches up against the cage.
Eyre using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Apila has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Apila lands a nice hook to Eyre's body. Eyre takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Apila bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Eyre's head.

Eyre wants to clinch
and Apila counters with a left to the body.
Apila moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Apila lands a nice looking kick to the body. Eyre takes a step back to recover.
Apila lands with an uppercut that bounces Eyre off the cage and back into range.

Apila darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Eyre throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Apila counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Eyre throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Apila connects with a high kick.

Apila lands a big head kick that sends Eyre tumbling to the mat! Apila takes a step backwards and waves Eyre back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That has opened up Martin Eyre's cut even more.
Apila checks the leg kick.
Apila is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Eyre swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Apila keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Apila showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Eyre.
Apila thuds a left hand into Eyre's body.
Eyre connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

and Apila counters with a crisp one two that drops Eyre! Apila thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Eyre to his feet! Eyre is in big trouble!

Apila feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Eyres jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The cut above Martin Eyre's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Apila takes the fight into the clinch.
Apila misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Eyre is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Eyre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Apila just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pertti Apila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Eyre.
Apila presses Eyre against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Martin Eyre's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
