PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barack Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gabriel Stark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Barack Bush!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bush moves in looking to clinch but Stark pushes him off.
Bush tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Stark counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bush rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stark moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bush tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stark manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Stark shoots in and gets a takedown into Bush's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bush looking for a sweep. Not yet Bush, not yet.
Stark looking to pass the guard.

Bush has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stark can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stark wants to control from the top but Bush keeps moving.
Stark is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Stark passes into half guard.
Stark seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bush works his way to full guard. Good work.
Stark pushing down on Bush's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Stark tries to pass to full mount but Bush defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stark looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stark is controlling the pace.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stark is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bush wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stark passes the guard and advances to mount!
Stark looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bush is desperately trying to improve his position but Stark has a good base and remains in mount.
Stark tries to control but Bush wriggling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bush is looking to improve his position but Stark isn't that keen on the idea.
Stark trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Stark takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bush has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bush wants to get back to his feet.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Bush tries to escape the position.
Will Stark go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Stark has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Bush's body.
Stark is looking to control Bush but Bush is wriggling around and keeping busy.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Bush turns into Stark and is now in his guard.
Stark looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bush is one step ahead there.

Bush gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Stark shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bush's guard.
Stark passes Bush's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Stark passes to full mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stark controlling his opponent.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Stark is looking to work his way around to Bush's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Stark moves to the back.
Stark has good solid back control here.
Bush trying to control the position but Stark manages to sink in the hooks.
Bush is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
I would not like to be Bush right now.
Stark doesn't have the hooks in and Bush manages to turn into his guard.
Bush wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bush pushes down on Stark's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bush is pressing down on Stark's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stark is holding on for now.
Stark trying to control but Bush postures up.
Stark is pressing down on Bush's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Stark manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Stark controlling from the full mount.

Stark looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Stark tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bush stops Stark from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Stark dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Stark attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Stark swats away the attempt to clinch by Bush.
Stark misses with a hook.

Bush scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Stark regains half guard.
Stark avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bush.
Bush thows a huge punch but Stark dodges it nicely.
Stark trying to hold on to Bush's head to control him but Bush postures up.
Bush wants to stand up but Stark has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Stark blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bush.
Stark regains full guard. Nicely done.
Stark wants to sweep here but Bush controlling him for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bush tries to stand but Stark is controlling from the bottom.
Bush stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stark swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bush wanted to stand there but Stark had control of the position.
Stark has his hands on Bush's head, controlling the position.

Stark is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bush frees his head nicely. Oh but Stark has switched to an armbar! Bush is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Gabriel Stark!
During a confident post fight interview, Gabriel Stark thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
