Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zane Lieu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Mcdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdonald connects with a looping right hand.
Lieu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lieu wants it to stay on the feet.
Lieu looks to score with a jab to the body but Mcdonald is just out of range.

Mcdonald ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mcdonald's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lieu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mcdonald scrambles back to his feet.

Mcdonald misses with a takedown attempt - Lieu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mcdonald shoots in looking for a takedown. Lieu tries to sprawl out of it but Mcdonald keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lieu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lieu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mcdonald circles away quickly and effectively.

and Mcdonald counters with a single leg into guard. Lieu didn't expect that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mcdonald postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lieu controls Mcdonald momentarily but Mcdonald frees himself.
Mcdonald is looking to work some ground and pound but Lieu has wrist control.

Mcdonald seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lieu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close second round but I would say that Zane Lieu will probably get the nod.
