The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cottenfifther looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Cottenfifther keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cottenfifther slips under a jab.
Kirby uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cottenfifther has time to react.
Cottenfifther connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A jab from Kirby finds it's way through Cottenfifther's defenses.
Kirby tries to bum rush Cottenfifther with a series of wild strikes but Cottenfifther uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kirby. Cottenfifther does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kirby swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kirby connects with a crisp jab.
Cottenfifther misses with a wild body shot.
Cottenfifther throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kirby rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cottenfifther moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cottenfifther looks to score with a jab to the body but Kirby is just out of range.

Cottenfifther changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kirby tries to avoid it but Cottenfifther manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kirby to the ground. Kirby escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cottenfifther lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kirby swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kirby moves out of range of the body kick from Cottenfifther.
Kirby lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

It looks like John Kirby has been cut.
Cottenfifther avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kirby throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kirby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cottenfifther manages to avoid it.
Kirby looks to land a combination but Cottenfifther avoids it well.
Cottenfifther scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Cottenfifther throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cottenfifther takes a swing at Kirby's ribcage but misses.

Kirby dips to his left and cracks Cottenfifther with an uppercut!
A swing and a miss from Kirby.
No joy there for Kirby, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cottenfifther wants to clinch.
Cottenfifther throws a lazy right hand but Kirby sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Cottenfifther closes the distance and pushes Kirby back into the cage.
Cottenfifther has Kirby pressed against the cage.
Kirby lands a body shot in the clinch.
Cottenfifther misses with a hook from the clinch.
Cottenfifther scores with a nice hook to the head.

Cottenfifther is trying to stall.
Cottenfifther fails to pull guard.
Kirby fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Cottenfifther misses with a punch to the body.
Cottenfifther presses Kirby against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kirby wants to break free but Cottenfifther has control.

Kirby escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cottenfifther rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kirby counters with a nice uppercut.
Kirby misses with a shot to the body

so Cottenfifther counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kirby is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cottenfifther throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kirby works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cottenfifther controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cottenfifther drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Cottenfifther as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Kirby screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Cottenfifther! Nice submission victory there!
