The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dama misses the jab.
Lal Dama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dama tries to close the distance and clinch but Vorenus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Vorenus feints a jab promting Dama to slip. Vorenus then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Dama slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Lal Dama has been cut.
Dama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vorenus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dama tries to clinch up.
Dama should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Dama is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vorenus can't fight it off and eventually Dama manages to take the fight to the floor. Vorenus looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Vorenus seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Dama has Vorenus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vorenus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dama takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Lal Dama's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
