The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mules lands a leg kick that knocks Motherwell off balance momentarily.
A punch combination from Mules misses.
Mules clobbers Motherwell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Mules has managed to clinch.
Motherwell looking to throw knees to the head but Mules is blocking nicely.
Motherwell with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Mules lands an elbow just above Motherwell 's eye.

It looks like Dave Motherwell has been cut.
Mules is struggling to control the position.

Mules manages to break the clinch.
Mules pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mules throws a body punch but Motherwell moves out of range.

Mules fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Motherwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Mules counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mules works Motherwell's body with a nice hook.
Motherwell is breathing heavily.
Motherwell tries to clinch but Mules moves away
and Mules counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Mules changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Mules buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Mules closes the distance and clinches.
Motherwell with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mules lands with a right to the head.

Mules breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mules throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Motherwell's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Mules dives in looking to finish as Motherwell flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Mules's strikes! Mules is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Motherwell's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Motherwell was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
