And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joel Edgerton!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgerton has his takedown stuffed
enabling Sanchez to counter with a crisp jab.
Nice takedown defense from Sanchez. No joy for Edgerton on that attempt.
Edgerton misses with a takedown
and Sanchez counters with a three punch combo that has Edgerton backing up. Edgerton nods at Sanchez to acknowledge the strikes.
Eddie Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Edgerton.
Sanchez slaps away a takedown attempt from Edgerton, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Sanchez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Edgerton circles away quickly and effectively.

Sanchez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Joel Edgerton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Edgerton ducks right into an uppercut from Sanchez.

and Sanchez counters with a nice low kick that buckles Edgerton's knee momentarily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sanchez shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Edgerton eats them both and turns towards Sanchez to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


Edgerton is rocked!


It looks like Joel Edgerton has been cut.
Sanchez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanchez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Edgerton is still on wobbly legs! Can Sanchez finish him?

Edgerton takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Edgerton seems to have recovered his senses.
Eddie Sanchez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Edgerton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Edgerton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Edgerton is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Edgerton tries to pass to full mount but Sanchez defends it.
Sanchez looks like he's trying to stand up.

Edgerton has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sanchez defend it? Edgerton steps over the head and cranks it - Sanchez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Edgerton!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joel Edgerton!
After the fight, Joel Edgerton was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
