PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Coutinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Dreyfuss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coutinho kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Numb. Rich Dreyfuss is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coutinho bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Coutinho tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Coutinho has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Coutinho has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Dreyfuss closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Coutinho to the mat! Coutinho manages to get full guard.

Coutinho escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dreyfuss gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Coutinho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dreyfuss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dreyfuss manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dreyfuss won't allow Coutinho to sweep him here.
Coutinho is breathing heavily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dreyfuss connects with a nice short shot to Coutinho's temple.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dreyfuss takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

and Dreyfuss counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Dreyfuss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Coutinho's guard.

Coutinho is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dreyfuss's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dreyfuss wants to control from the top but Coutinho keeps moving.
Dreyfuss cracks Coutinho with a solid left hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Coutinho is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Dreyfuss frees his head nicely. Oh but Coutinho has switched to an armbar! Dreyfuss is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
