Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Canete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Von Paloukos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jerome Canete has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jerome Canete seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Canete fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Paloukos to the ground. Canete is now in Paloukos's guard.
Paloukos controls Canete momentarily but Canete frees himself.

Paloukos is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Paloukos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Canete is one step ahead there.

Paloukos has his foot on Canete's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Canete works his way back into a safe position though.

Canete is working Paloukos over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paloukos is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Paloukos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Canete is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Canete is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Paloukos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Paloukos is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Canete sees it coming and defends easily.

Canete pulls Paloukos in to control the position.
Paloukos wants to control from the top but Canete keeps moving.
Paloukos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Paloukos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Paloukos passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Paloukos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Canete knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Canete wants to get back to his feet but Paloukos drags him back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Canete postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Paloukos looks a forlorn figure.
