The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gotch bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Othella is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Othella struggling a bit here.
Gotch lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Othella taking a bit of punishment here - Gotch scoring with strikes.
Othella is looking for a sweep.
Gotch cracks Othella with a big right hand but Othella just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gotch drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gotch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Othella is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
