PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Bosco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royce Bosco told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Royce Bosco!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bosco misses the shot to the body.
Bosco shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Escobar defends it nicely.
Bosco slips under a jab.
Escobar misses with a body shot.
Bosco tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Escobar paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bosco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Escobar was covering up waiting for the punch and Bosco finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Escobar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bosco is controlling him.

Escobar pushes Bosco off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Escobar stuffs the takedown.

Bosco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Escobar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Escobar is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bosco is controlling him well.

Bosco wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Escobar, who protects the arm well.
Bosco is looking to take a break and control but Escobar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bosco prevents Escobar from escaping the position.

Bosco looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Escobar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bosco has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Bosco working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Escobar pushes Bosco away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bosco gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bosco tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bosco has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Escobar is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Escobar parries the strikes from Bosco easily there. Bosco is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Escobar to escape.
Escobar is trying to buck Bosco off.
Escobar trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Bosco is trying to get an arm triangle but Escobar is defending well.

Bosco is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Escobar has escaped the position, nice work there.

Bosco prevents Escobar from escaping the position.

Bosco is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Escobar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Escobar pushes Bosco away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bosco gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bosco goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Escobar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bosco but great work by Escobar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Bosco dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bosco shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Escobar defends it nicely.
Escobar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bosco.
Bosco scores with a jab to the jaw.
Escobar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bosco lands a nice shot that snaps Escobar's head back.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bosco looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A right-left combo lands from Escobar.
Bosco takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Escobar fails to land with a series of punches.
Pablo Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bosco uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Escobar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Escobar takes one to the side of the head.
Bosco takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Escobar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bosco throws out the jab.
Escobar goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Escobar connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Bosco throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bosco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Escobar's waist but Escobar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bosco off to one side.
Bosco misses with a takedown attempt
and Escobar counters with a two punch combo.


Bosco is rocked!
Pablo Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royce Bosco.
Bosco is breathing heavily.
Escobar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bosco is still on wobbly legs! Can Escobar finish him?
Escobar rushes Bosco with punches - Bosco moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Bosco goes down! Escobar follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pablo Escobar!
