The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sonnen scores with a jab. Fingers acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Sonnen throws a hook but Fingers avoids it easily.
Fingers slips under a jab.

Sonnen instigates a clinch.
Sonnen tries to work over Fingers's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Sonnen tightens his grip and picks Fingers up, before dumping him to the ground. Fingers manages to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fingers has his hands on Sonnen's head, controlling the position.

Fingers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sonnen won't allow Fingers to sweep him here.
Sonnen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fingers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sonnen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sonnen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sonnen trying to control but Fingers is working from the bottom.

Fingers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sonnen is sitting in close to Fingers's body. Fingers has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Sonnen is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Sonnen is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fingers.
