Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tomoyasu Matsunaga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sompong Seesumran!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seesumran fails to land with a series of punches.

Seesumran closes the distance and clinches.

Seesumran pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Matsunaga swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Seesumran closes the distance and clinches.
Matsunaga stalling in the clinch but Seesumran improves position.
Matsunaga could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Knees to the body from Seesumran.
Seesumran misses with a knee strike.
Seesumran with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Matsunaga tries to pull guard but Seesumran won't allow it.
Matsunaga is looking to break free of the clinch but Seesumran has double underhooks.
Seesumran comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Seesumran scores a nice knee to the body.
Matsunaga takes a knee right on the jaw!
Seesumran utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Matsunaga goes for a takedown in the clinch but Seesumran prevents it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee calls for Seesumran to work.

Seesumran manages to break the clinch.

Matsunaga looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Matsunaga postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Seesumran is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matsunaga, into his guard.

Seesumran stands up from Matsunaga's guard - Seesumran perhaps looking for a knockout.

Seesumran forces Matsunaga back against the cage and clinches.
Seesumran lands a nice elbow.
Seesumran with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Matsunaga fails to land.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Matsunaga misses with a punch to the body.
Matsunaga lands a right hand.
Matsunaga is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomoyasu Matsunaga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Matsunaga tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Seesumran smiles and moves away.
Seesumran fails with an attempt to clinch.

Matsunaga looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Seesumran throws a hook but Matsunaga avoids it easily.
Matsunaga misses with a looping right.
Seesumran throws a sloppy head kick and Matsunaga moves out of range easily.
Seesumran jabs Matsunaga right on the nose. Matsunaga blinks but takes it well.

Seesumran has taken the fight to the clinch.
Matsunaga tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Seesumran's elbow.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Seesumran takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Seesumran lands a nice elbow.
Matsunaga is looking for a takedown.
Seesumran is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Seesumran breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Seesumran throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Matsunaga bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Seesumran's head backwards.

Matsunaga fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Seesumran sprawls well initially but Matsunaga persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matsunaga is trying to work for a kimura but Seesumran is defending well.

Matsunaga is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Seesumran is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tomoyasu Matsunaga!
