The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

St Pierre fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dutra, pushing him back against the cage.
Dutra lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
St Pierre connects with a nasty looking knee right to Dutra's face.
St Pierre misses with a body punch.
St Pierre lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dutra backwards.
Dutra is looking for a takedown up against the cage. St Pierre gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
St Pierre trying to land knees to the body.

St Pierre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dutra is looking to land body kicks.
St Pierre tries to clinch but Dutra is having none of it.
Dutra keeps the fight on the outside.
Dutra throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dutra shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as St Pierre sprawls well. St Pierre wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dutra gets slowly back to his feet.
Dutra dives in and grabs St Pierre's left leg, looking for a takedown. St Pierre pushes down on Dutra's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Claudio Dutra. That's going to take a lot out of him.

St Pierre clinches up with Dutra and pushes him back against the cage.
Dutra is trying to force a seperation but St Pierre has the dominant position.

St Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dutra tries to score a power double leg takedown but St Pierre sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dutra somewhat.
St Pierre leaves Dutra with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dutra trying to control the position from guard on top but St Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
St Pierre wants to sweep here but Dutra controlling him for the moment.
St Pierre is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

St Pierre is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
St Pierre wants to stand but Dutra is controlling the position.

St Pierre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dutra is controlling him.
Dutra pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. St Pierre is keeping the position for now.

Dutra tries to keep at a distance but St Pierre has taken the fight into the clinch.
St Pierre lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Dutra decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
St Pierre wants to get back to his feet.
Dutra takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dutra passes to side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dutra misses with the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Georges St Pierre will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dutra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

St Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dutra paws at him with a jab and circles away.
St Pierre stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and St Pierre wants it to stay on the feet.

A right hook to the body lands for St Pierre.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as St Pierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

St Pierre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dutra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

St Pierre slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Georges St Pierre wasn't active enough on the ground.
St Pierre doesn't manage to clinch there - Dutra circles away.

Dutra rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but St Pierre moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dutra shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches St Pierre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
St Pierre is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Dutra off and has taken his back!
St Pierre really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Dutra.
I really don't envy Dutra right now.
Dutra might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
St Pierre slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Georges St Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

St Pierre is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dutra's half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dutra lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
St Pierre tries to clinch but Dutra is having none of it.

St Pierre shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Let's hope that St Pierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Georges St Pierre is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Georges St Pierre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dutra dives in and grabs St Pierre's left leg, looking for a takedown. St Pierre pushes down on Dutra's head and hops out.
Dutra will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dutra is trying hard to land a takedown here. St Pierre sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dutra jumps guard but St Pierre stands there with Dutra around his waist. Dutra gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

St Pierre has Dutra pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. St Pierre pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Dutra tumbling to the mat - St Pierre dives into Dutra's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dutra can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as St Pierre controls the pace.

Well St Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
