Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Dettorio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kira Yamato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dettorio's entrance music is 50 Cent-What Up Gangsta. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kira Yamato!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yamato drives through and clinches with Dettorio against the cage.
Yamato prevents the takedown attempt.
Yamato cracks Dettorio with a nice body shot.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Yamato breaks the clinch.

Yamato drives through and clinches with Dettorio against the cage.

Yamato jumps guard and drags Dettorio to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dettorio won't allow Yamato to get back to his feet.
Dettorio wants to control from the top but Yamato keeps moving.

Dettorio drops back looking for a leg! Yamato is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yamato manages to kick Dettorio off! Dettorio jumps back into Yamato's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamato wants to stand up but Dettorio is controlling him.
Yamato really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dettorio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Francesco Dettorio wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Dettorio tries to keep at a distance but Yamato has taken the fight into the clinch.

Yamato pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yamato fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yamato leaves Dettorio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dettorio is defended easily by Yamato.
Dettorio fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dettorio is breathing heavily.
Dettorio tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yamato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dettorio somewhat.

Dettorio gets tackled into the cage by Yamato. Yamato maintains the clinch.

Yamato is pressed up against the cage. Dettorio has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Yamato down to the mat. Yamato avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Francesco Dettorio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dettorio doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Yamato counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Yamato.

Yamato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Yamato darts in and clinches Dettorio up against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yamato jumps into guard, dragging Dettorio to the mat.
Yamato is looking to stand up but Dettorio isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Yamato effectively controlling the action here.

Yamato pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yamato moves into range and clinches up with Dettorio.

Yamato drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dettorio wants to stand and escape but Yamato is having none of it.
Yamato wants to stand but Dettorio has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Dettorio bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yamato's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dettorio is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Yamato wants to stand but Dettorio is controlling the position.

Dettorio drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Yamato dives on top into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dettorio is on top in guard.

Dettorio won't allow Yamato to get back to his feet.
Yamato wants to get back to his feet but Dettorio passes into half guard.

Dettorio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yamato sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yamato looks like he's trying to stand up.

Dettorio is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yamato sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dettorio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yamato is just riding it out for now. Dettorio eventually gives up the hold.
Yamato won't allow Dettorio to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kira Yamato showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Yamato. No joy for Dettorio on that attempt.

Yamato lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Dettorio changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Yamato fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Yamato has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dettorio uses from the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yamato can do anything to dispel that myth.

I would just about give that final round to Kira Yamato.
I've got Yamato winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
