Steve Austin has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Oliver!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Oliver tenderised Austin's leg. Austin is trying to keep his angry face on.

Austin feints and as Oliver raises his hands in defense, Austin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Oliver trying to keep a closed guard but Austin is proving a slippery customer.
Austin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Austin trying to control the position from guard on top but Oliver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Austin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Austin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Austin with a flurry of punches that miss.

Austin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Austin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Austin is working Oliver over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Oliver looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oliver is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Austin is controlling him.
Austin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Oliver is looking to stand up but Austin isn't so interested in that idea.

Oliver is trying to control the position but Austin postures up.
Oliver is controlling Austin's posture.
Oliver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Austin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Oliver is looking to stand back up but Austin counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Oliver.
Oliver has hold of Austin's hands but Austin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Austin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Austin thows a huge punch but Oliver dodges it nicely.
Oliver trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Oliver tries to lock up and control but Austin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Austin cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Austin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Austin trying to control but Oliver is having none of it.
Austin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Austin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Austin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Oliver to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Oliver shrugs it off.

Austin is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Oliver is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Steve Austin!
Steve Austin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
