Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shang Tsung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsung's entrance music is Mortal Kombat Theme Remix. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Demian Maia was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsung misses with an attempted mid kick.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Tsung sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Maia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tsung is fending him off so far but Maia persists. Nope, Tsung circles away and we're back to standing.
Tsung throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Maia bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tsung struggling a bit here.
Tsung sneaks back into half guard.
Tsung has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maia is working away from the top position though.

Maia is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tsung is just riding it out for now. Maia eventually gives up the hold.
Maia is thwarting Tsung's attempts to control the position.

Tsung is defending against the submission attempts here by Maia.
Maia trying to pass the guard but Tsung defending well.
Tsung is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maia's back!
I really don't envy Maia right now.

Maia defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Tsung's arms.
Tsung doesn't have the hooks in and Maia manages to turn into his guard.

Maia postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tsung is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maia, into his guard.
Maia looks gassed!

Tsung is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Tsung passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Tsung wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maia keeps working.
Maia is looking to reverse the position.
Maia looks to move to half guard but instead Tsung has passed into mount! Damn!
Tsung can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Maia is looking to escape.
Maia is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tsung is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tsung is sitting in close to Maia's body. Maia has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Tsung is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Tsung is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maia.
