Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Sepi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Karias York!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sepi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but York manages to avoid it.
York has his takedown stuffed

and Sepi counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sepi working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sepi trying to control but York is working from the bottom.

York wants to sweep here but Sepi controlling him for the moment.
Sepi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sepi's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

York is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sepi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as York works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

York keeping moving, preventing Sepi from controlling successfully.
Sepi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
York is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sepi is controlling him.
York trying to keep a closed guard but Sepi is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sepi comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

York changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sepi tries to avoid it but York manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sepi to the ground. Sepi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sepi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. York did well to prevent Sepi getting side control.

Sepi wants to lay and pray for a moment but York keeps working.

Sepi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
York is in all sorts of trouble here.

and Sepi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Karias York seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sepi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sepi connects with a nice short shot to York's temple.

Sepi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Sepi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

York wants to stand but Sepi is controlling the position.
Sepi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sepi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, York has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sepi but great work by York.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


York throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sepi's waist but Sepi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing York off to one side.
York takes one on the chin but seems OK.

York takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

York will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
