PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dee Penn Dent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duk Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dong has chosen Thompson Twins - If You Were Here as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dee Penn Dent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duk Dong!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dent lands a right hook to the body.
Dent does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Dong clinches up against the cage.
Dent effectively controlling the action here.
Dong avoiding damage as Dent throws knees to the body.
A nice right hand lands inside from Dent.
Dent scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Dong is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dong has Dent pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dent manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dong is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dent pulls him back up using the underhooks.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dent seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dent is on top in guard.

Dent postures up in Dong's guard and throws a big left but Dong blocks it.
Dent might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dent wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dent throws a strike but Dong rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duk Dong has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Dent lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Dent fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dong looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Dong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dent knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dong swings around for an armbar but Dent sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dong's guard.
Dent slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dong takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dent stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dent wants it to stay on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dee Penn Dent is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dent has the hooks in. Dong is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dent, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
