PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rez Cortez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rez Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Hart!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hart throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cortez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hart is in Cortez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hart not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hart tries to free his leg and advance position but Cortez is retaining full guard.
Hart is pushing down on Cortez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cortez is fighting to maintain full guard but Hart has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cortez gets back to full guard.
Hart controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cortez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hart on the ground.
Cortez keeping moving, preventing Hart from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hart thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hart stands and throws Cortez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hart prevents Cortez from escaping the position.

Hart tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hart has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cortez is being controlled here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hart tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cortez's legs.
Hart fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hart is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cortez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Cortez is trying to buck Hart off.
Cortez is not content to let Hart control the position.

Hart is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cortez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hart passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Cortez!
Cortez avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hart.
Hart content just to control the position here.

Hart looking to secure an arm triangle but Cortez defends it well.
Hart looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hart wants to control the pace but Cortez is squirming around nicely.
Hart throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cortez because Hart loaded up on that one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hart in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortez has given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Hart dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cortez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A jab from Hart finds it's way through Cortez's defenses.


It looks like Rez Cortez has been cut.
Cortez moves out of range of the strikes.
Cortez throws a combination that misses
and Hart counters with a huge left! Cortez is in big trouble! He's backing up but Hart isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Cortez from any more damage. A dominating finish by Hart!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Hart!
Matt Hart seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
