Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Estep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Stamper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Estep comes to the cage accompanied by Courageous. Harry Stamper has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Estep!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Stamper!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Estep drives through and clinches with Stamper against the cage.

Stamper is trying to trip Estep. He has hold of a leg but Estep is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Stamper persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Stamper looking to sit in guard and control but Estep gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stamper throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Stamper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Estep doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Estep manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Estep is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stamper not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Estep distracts Stamper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Estep wants to stand but Stamper is controlling his posture from full guard.
Estep controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stamper is trying to control the position but Estep postures up.
Stamper looking to control but Estep passes into half guard.
Stamper won't allow Estep to pass to mount.
Estep keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Stamper is staying active underneath Estep, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stamper stuffs the takedown attempt from Estep. Estep gets slowly back to his feet.
Stamper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Estep looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Estep. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Stamper counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Estep's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stamper looks gassed!

Estep is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Stamper wants to control from the top but Estep keeps moving.
Estep trying to keep a closed guard but Stamper is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stamper dives in and grabs Estep's left leg, looking for a takedown. Estep pushes down on Stamper's head and hops out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stamper looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stamper pushes Estep up against the cage in a clinch.
Stamper gets underhooks to prevent Estep's takedown attempt.
Estep has Stamper pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stamper manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Estep is trying to stall.
Stamper wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stamper is trying to force a seperation but Estep has the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stamper is working for takedown but Estep is calmly controlling the position for now.

Stamper manages to break the clinch.
Estep scores with a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Harry Stamper will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Stamper dives in and grabs Estep's left leg, looking for a takedown. Estep pushes down on Stamper's head and hops out.

Estep drives through and clinches with Stamper against the cage.
Stamper tries to pull guard but Estep holds him up against the cage and eventually Stamper drops back down to his feet.

Estep pulls Stamper into guard.
Stamper postures up.

Estep has his foot on Stamper's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stamper works his way back into a safe position though.
Estep is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Estep is pulling down on Stamper's head to control his posture.
Estep throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Estep pulls Stamper in to control the position.
Stamper trying to control the position from guard on top but Estep is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Estep is adopting a defensive guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brian Estep wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Stamper feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stamper is breathing heavily.
Estep bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stamper's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stamper can do anything to dispel that myth.

Estep tries to free his leg and advance position but Stamper is retaining full guard.
Estep distracts Stamper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Estep drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Estep jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Estep accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stamper working for submissions but it's allowed Estep to get to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Estep works his way into side control.

Estep stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Stamper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Estep gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Stamper counters with a low kick, right behind Estep 's knee.
Estep dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Estep misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Estep.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Estep. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Estep misses with the combination.
Horrible takedown by Stamper or perhaps it was just good defense by Estep which made him look bad.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Estep looks for the body kick but Stamper saw that one coming.
Estep shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stamper pinned against the cage. Stamper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Estep dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Estep shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stamper pinned against the cage. Stamper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stamper stuffs the takedown.
Estep shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stamper as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Estep. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Estep clinches up against the cage.
Stamper goes for a takedown in the clinch but Estep prevents it.

Stamper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Stamper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Stamper takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Estep decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stamper, up you get!

Stamper shoots in and gets a takedown into Estep's guard.
Estep is trying to control the position but Stamper postures up.

Estep wriggles free and stands up.
Nice sprawl there from Stamper as Estep shoots in.
Stamper looks to land a combination. Estep sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stamper stuffs the takedown.

Stamper closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Estep to the mat! Estep manages to get full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Estep wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stamper shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Estep defends it nicely.
Estep bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stamper's head.
Stamper is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Estep.
Harry Stamper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Estep uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stamper.
Estep throws a series of punches but Stamper avoids them all with ease.

Estep pushes Stamper up against the cage in a clinch.
Estep looking for a takedown.
Stamper is trying to pull guard but Estep turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Stamper throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Estep blocks it with crossed arms.

Estep's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Estep changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stamper tries to avoid it but Estep manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stamper to the ground. Stamper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Estep shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stamper as he jumps to the side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stamper is defended easily by Estep.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Estep.
Well Estep has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
