Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brad Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Mcdermott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brad Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Mcdermott!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcdermott gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stout to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcdermott is on top in guard.
Stout is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mcdermott working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stout is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mcdermott throwing strikes but missing.
Mcdermott wants to control from the top but Stout keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcdermott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stout avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stout keeping full guard, as Mcdermott tries to pass.
Mcdermott trying to control the position from guard on top but Stout is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcdermott won't allow Stout to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mcdermott postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Stout on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stout tries to get out of the position.
Mcdermott postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Mcdermott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stout preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stout keeping moving, preventing Mcdermott from controlling successfully.
Stout wants to stand but Mcdermott is controlling the position.

Mcdermott controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Mcdermott wants to control from the top but Stout keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Steven Mcdermott wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mcdermott throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stout shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mcdermott throws a right and a left that Stout avoids nicely.
Mcdermott connects with a body shot that sends Stout's belly button to the back.
Horrible takedown by Mcdermott or perhaps it was just good defense by Stout which made him look bad.
Stout stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcdermott. Mcdermott gets slowly back to his feet.
Steven Mcdermott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stout throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mcdermott.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcdermott lands with a good body shot.

Stout drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stout is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcdermott has wrist control.

Mcdermott is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stout defends well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mcdermott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Stout trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stout postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Stout is sitting in close to Mcdermott's body. Mcdermott has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Stout is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Stout is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Mcdermott.
