PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Uki Goshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Uki Goshi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam Colt!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Goshi's guard.
Colt wants to get up but he can't break Goshi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Goshi wants to sweep here but Colt controlling him for the moment.
Colt trying to control but Goshi is working from the bottom.

Goshi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Colt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Colt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Goshi looking for a guillotine here but Colt defends easily.

Goshi working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Colt has passed into half guard!

Colt is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Goshi defends it well.

Goshi kicks off Colt and gets to his feet.

Colt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Goshi advances position into side control!

Goshi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Colt has escaped the position, nice work there.
Colt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goshi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Colt manages to work his way to half guard, despite Goshi's best efforts.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Goshi stands up out of the half guard.
Goshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Colt shoots in for a double leg but Goshi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Colt throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Colt fails with the takedown

and Goshi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Colt looks gassed!

Goshi wants to work for an arm triangle but Colt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Colt is staying active underneath Goshi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Colt wants to get back to full guard.

Colt looking for submissions off his back.
Goshi wants to stand but Colt has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Goshi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Colt!
Colt is bucking up trying to escape but Goshi cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Goshi is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Colt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Uki Goshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Colt.

Goshi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Colt closes the distance but Goshi moves to the side
and Goshi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Colt thinking.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Colt shoots in and drives through. Goshi sprawls well.

Colt feints and as Goshi raises his hands in defense, Colt changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Colt stands and steps away. Goshi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Uki Goshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Colt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Colt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goshi tries to avoid it but Colt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goshi to the ground. Goshi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Colt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Goshi actively working from the bottom here.
Colt is keen to just control but Goshi is a slippery customer.
Goshi tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Colt has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Colt is looking to stand but Colt has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uki Goshi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Goshi throws a leg kick which misses Colt's front leg but catches the back leg as Colt tries to avoid it.
Goshi connects with a high kick.
Some wild striking there from Goshi.
Uki Goshi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Colt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Goshi swivels and escapes.
Goshi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Goshi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Colt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Colt prevents Goshi from improving his position.
Colt stops Goshi from getting back to his feet.
Goshi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Colt won't allow Goshi to sweep him here.

Goshi has his feet on Colt's thighs here. He's pushed Colt off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Colt screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Uki Goshi!
