The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
HardStyle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten HardStyle somewhat.
HardStyle lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
HardStyle has closed the distance and engaged Ruy in a clinch.
Ruy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ruy is trying to break the clinch but HardStyle has him pressed against the cage.
HardStyle connects with a knee to the head.
HardStyle drags the fight down to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
HardStyle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
HardStyle pulls Ruy in close to prevent any damage.
HardStyle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

HardStyle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ruy defends it easily.
Ruy has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing HardStyle to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ruy is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - HardStyle pulls down on the head and he's put Ruy to sleep! This one is all over!
