PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vicente Otubro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Otubro comes into the arena with Smthng 2 Die 4 blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vicente Otubro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Stone!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Stone looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Otubro throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stone was covering up waiting for the punch and Otubro finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Otubro wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.

Otubro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Otubro trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Otubro with a nice head shot there.
Otubro distracts Stone with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stone has momentary wrist control but Otubro slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Otubro from controlling successfully.
Otubro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Otubro looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Otubro drops back looking for a leg! Stone is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stone manages to kick Otubro off! Otubro jumps back into Stone's guard.
Otubro wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Otubro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Otubro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Otubro connects with a couple of short punches.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Otubro from controlling successfully.
Otubro controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Otubro engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Stone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Otubro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Otubro trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Vicente Otubro wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Otubro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stone defends it nicely.
Otubro throws a shot from downtown. Stone moves away and avoids it.
Otubro misses with a wild combination.
Otubro pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stone has closed the distance and engaged Otubro in a clinch.
Stone gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Otubro.
Stone has had enough of the clinch but Otubro keeps him there for the moment.
Stone is looking to break free of the clinch but Otubro has double underhooks.
Otubro keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stone's efforts to push away.
Otubro lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Otubro goes for a takedown attempt but Stone pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vicente Otubro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Otubro throws a leg kick but Stone sees it coming and moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Otubro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Stone gets caught napping as Otubro dives in and scores a takedown. Stone manages to retain guard.
Otubro trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom.

Vicente Otubro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stone preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stone being controlled here, momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Otubro is working Stone over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Stone is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Otubro wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.

Otubro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Otubro controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Otubro wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.
Otubro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Otubro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Otubro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Otubro drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Otubro as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Stone screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Otubro! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Vicente Otubro!
After winning the bout, Vicente Otubro thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
