Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Loconsole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Austin Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loconsole avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Barnett pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barnett misses with a series of wild punches.
Barnett doesn't manage to clinch there - Loconsole circles away.
Loconsole tries to clinch up but Barnett circles away and keeps his distance.
Barnett misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Barnett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Loconsole tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barnett paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Loconsole tries to clinch up.
Barnett lands a jab-cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnett pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Barnett looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Loconsole!
Barnett lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Barnett sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Loconsole wants to hold on but Barnett pushes him away.

Barnett is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Loconsole can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Barnett with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Loconsole slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Barnett wants to take a breather but Loconsole is having none of it.
Barnett tries to pass to full mount but Loconsole defends it.

Barnett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Loconsole keeps working.
Loconsole wants to improve his position but Barnett is controlling well.
Loconsole is staying active underneath Barnett, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Barnett is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Barnett thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Barnett uses his free foot to push down on Loconsole's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Loconsole.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Barnett goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Loconsole is on top in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barnett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Loconsole doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Loconsole manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Loconsole is looking to clinch but Barnett is avoiding it.
Loconsole tries to close the distance and clinch but Barnett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Barnett counters with a left and a right that stings Loconsole.

Barnett tries to keep at a distance but Loconsole has taken the fight into the clinch.

Loconsole throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Barnett blocks it with crossed arms.
Barnett wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Barnett wants to get back to striking at distance but Loconsole won't allow it.

Barnett tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Loconsole just stands there and leans against the cage.

Loconsole makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Loconsole.
Barnett postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett wants to control from the top but Loconsole keeps moving.
Barnett is looking to work some ground and pound but Loconsole has wrist control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Loconsole tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Barnett counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Barnett postures up in Loconsole's guard and throws a big left but Loconsole blocks it.
Barnett won't allow Loconsole to sweep him here.
Loconsole keeping moving, preventing Barnett from controlling successfully.
Loconsole wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin Barnett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Barnett tries to pass the half guard into mount. Loconsole knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Barnett has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Loconsole can't escape the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Barnett misses with a head shot.
Loconsole blocking the ground and pound.

Barnett working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Loconsole turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Barnett off and cradles Loconsole's limp body as Barnett celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Austin Barnett!
