Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Samuel Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Sexington!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams has managed to clinch.

Adams pulls guard.
Adams trying to keep a closed guard but Sexington is proving a slippery customer.
Sexington preventing the sweep.
Adams wants to stand but Sexington is controlling the position.
Adams keeping moving, preventing Sexington from controlling successfully.

Adams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sexington gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Adams keeping full guard, as Sexington tries to pass.
Adams wants to stand but Sexington is controlling the position.
Sexington must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Adams is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sexington keeps the fight on the outside.
Adams throws a series of punches but Sexington moves out of range.
Adams fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Adams has closed the distance and engaged Sexington in a clinch.

Adams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sexington walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Adams checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Samuel Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adams shoots in looking for a takedown. Sexington tries to sprawl out of it but Adams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sexington manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Adams is defended easily by Sexington.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Adams looks to land a combination but Sexington avoids it well.
Adams fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sexington.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Adams fails to land with a series of punches.
Adams is breathing heavily.
No luck for Sexington with that takedown attempt.
Sexington tries to close the distance and clinch up but Adams swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sexington throws a head kick that misses.
Sexington defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Adams.
Adams scores with a punch to the head.
Adams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sexington sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Adams somewhat.
Sexington tries to clinch but Adams moves out of range.
Adams wants to clinch up but Sexington keeps it at a distance.

Adams throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sexington tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Adams is in Sexington's guard.
Adams is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Adams lands a couple of elbows.
Sexington has a closed guard, preventing Adams from standing up.
Adams seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Samuel Adams has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Adams lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Chad Sexington has been cut.

Adams closes the distance and clinches.

Adams shoots for a takedown but Sexington saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Adams has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sexington avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sexington is trying to pull guard but Adams has him pressed against the cage.

Adams turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Adams manages to end up in side control.
Sexington is breathing heavily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sexington shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense.

Sexington takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Adams scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sexington defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Adams.

Adams gets a clinch.

Adams jumps into guard, dragging Sexington to the mat.
Sexington looking to sit in guard and control but Adams gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Adams trying to control but Sexington is working from the bottom.
Sexington is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Adams stays in close to Sexington's body and controls the position.

Adams wants to control from the top but Sexington keeps moving.
Adams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sexington is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Samuel Adams wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sexington avoids the head kick by Adams.

Adams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sexington looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Samuel Adams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Adams takes a little break here. Sexington wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Adams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Adams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Adams gets the takedown into side control.
Adams cracks Sexington with a big elbow.
Adams is staying tight to Sexington's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Adams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sexington can do to turn this around?
Sexington is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Adams off and has taken his back!
Adams tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Adams tries to lock up and control but Sexington gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Adams avoids a strike by Sexington and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Sexington's guard! Fantastic escape!
Sexington takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Adams stands up out of the half guard.

Adams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sexington sprawls well initially but Adams persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Adams in particular looking to stall.
Adams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Adams is looking for a kimura but Sexington is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Adams to get the leverage.

Adams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams wants to take a breather but Sexington is having none of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sexington wants to get back to full guard but Adams has mounted him!

Adams cracks Sexington with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Adams sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Adams pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Sexington is squirming around, avoiding Adams's attempts to control the action.
Adams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Adams lands a big shot there that rocks Sexington but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sexington can do anything to dispel that myth.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
