The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Silva.
Materazzi misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.

Silva rushes Materazzi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Silva misses with some punches.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Materazzi.
Materazzi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Materazzi blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Materazzi swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.

and Materazzi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Materazzi circles away from the clinch attempt
and Materazzi counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Glaube Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Materazzi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Silva moves to clinch but Materazzi breaks away
and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Materazzi stalks Silva and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Silva's face. Silva staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Glaube Silva has been cut.

Silva has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Silva there as he acknowledges the shot.
Silva throws a nice outside leg kick.

and Materazzi counters with a straight right hand.
Silva closes the distance looking to clinch
and Materazzi counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Silva! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Materazzi!
