Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Philco Hitachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier Outland!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hitachi scores with a takedown into Outland's guard.
Hitachi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Outland swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hitachi throws a big elbow that misses.
Hitachi postures up in Outland's guard and throws a big left but Outland blocks it.

Hitachi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Outland utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hitachi throwing strikes but missing.
Hitachi cracks Outland with a solid left hand.
Hitachi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Outland works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hitachi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Outland looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Outland looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Outland!

Outland takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Outland is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hitachi sees it coming and defends easily.
Hitachi is looking to control Outland's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hitachi avoid being mounted?
Hitachi is staying active underneath Outland, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hitachi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Hitachi is trying to drag Outland to the mat but Outland just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hitachi goes for a takedown attempt but Outland pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Outland changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hitachi tries to avoid it but Outland manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hitachi to the ground. Hitachi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hitachi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Outland's guard.
Outland utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hitachi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hitachi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hitachi throwing strikes but Outland manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Outland has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hitachi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Outland takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Hitachi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Outland's shoulder. That is not cool.
