Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pekka Myrynen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Myrynen!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Myrynen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Myrynen, who protects the arm well.
Jones tries to move into full mount but can't pass Myrynen's legs.

Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Myrynen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Myrynen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Myrynen keeps working.
Myrynen sneaks back into half guard.
Myrynen tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones is keen to just control but Myrynen is a slippery customer.
Myrynen is looking to improve his position.
Myrynen wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Myrynen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Myrynen misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones tries to clinch there but Myrynen circles away.
Myrynen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Myrynen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Myrynen is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Myrynen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jones wants to take a breather but Myrynen is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Myrynen shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.

Myrynen seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Myrynen thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Jones gets back to full guard.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Myrynen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Myrynen's back instead.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Myrynen is in bad spot here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Jones dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones lands a head kick. Myrynen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Myrynen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Myrynen sneaks out the side door and pushes Jones away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Myrynen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Myrynen is trying to trip Jones. He has hold of a leg but Jones is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Myrynen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Myrynen is breathing heavily.
Chris Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones is working hard here to advance position.
Myrynen trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Myrynen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Myrynen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Myrynen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Let's hope that Myrynen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Myrynen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jones gets his way!

Myrynen is trying to stand back up.
Myrynen trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Myrynen has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Myrynen manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jones's guard. Nice work there by Myrynen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Myrynen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Myrynen has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Jones is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Myrynen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Myrynen!

Jones is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Myrynen frees his head nicely. Oh but Jones has switched to an armbar! Myrynen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
