PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicolas Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zacharius Pendragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zacharius Pendragon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolas Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 30 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zacharius Pendragon!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pendragon feints and as Belfort raises his hands in defense, Pendragon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pendragon tries to free his leg and advance position but Belfort is retaining full guard.

Pendragon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pendragon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Belfort keeping moving, preventing Pendragon from controlling successfully.

Pendragon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Belfort gets caught flat footed, as Pendragon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pendragon wants to control from the top but Belfort keeps moving.
Belfort could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Pendragon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Belfort might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pendragon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Belfort's guard.
Pendragon passes into half guard.
Pendragon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Belfort does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Pendragon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Pendragon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pendragon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Belfort is squirming around, avoiding Pendragon's attempts to control the action.

Pendragon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Belfort looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Pendragon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Belfort is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pendragon decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Zacharius Pendragon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Belfort enables Pendragon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Belfort manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pendragon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Belfort is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Belfort has escaped and now he's on top!

Pendragon pushes Belfort off and gets back to his feet.

Pendragon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Belfort sprawls well initially but Pendragon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Zacharius Pendragon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pendragon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
