Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bleeding Gums Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slice Penny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Slice Penny has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Murphy is breathing heavily.

Penny moves into range and clinches up with Murphy.
Penny effectively controlling the action here.
Penny drops down looking for an ankle pick but Murphy pulls his leg out and moves away.

Penny has Murphy up against the cage in a clinch.
Penny lands a shot to the body.
Penny dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Penny goes for a takedown in the clinch but Murphy prevents it.
Penny tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Murphy smiles and moves away.
Bleeding Gums Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slice Penny.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Penny tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murphy swivels and escapes.

Penny tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Murphy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Penny closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penny shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Murphy as he avoids it easily.
Penny misses with a takedown attempt - Murphy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nice takedown defense from Murphy. No joy for Penny on that attempt.
Horrible takedown by Penny or perhaps it was just good defense by Murphy which made him look bad.

Murphy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A right-left combo lands from Penny.

Murphy rushes Penny and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Murphy using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Penny has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Penny is working for takedown but Murphy is calmly controlling the position for now.

Penny wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Murphy has him pressed against the cage.

Penny is trying to break free.
Penny is trying to break the clinch but Murphy is controlling him.
Murphy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Penny just stands there and leans against the cage.
Penny can't find room to land a body shot as Murphy controls the action.
Murphy trying to control the position but instead, Penny has worked for underhooks and has pushed Murphy into the cage.

Penny breaks from the clinch.
Penny tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Murphy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Penny as he jumps to the side.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Murphy throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Penny.
Penny closes the distance and clinches up with Murphy, looking for a takedown. Penny pushes Murphy against the cage but Murphy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Penny has closed the distance and engaged Murphy in a clinch.
Murphy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Penny.

Bleeding Gums Murphy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Penny dives in and grabs Murphy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Murphy pushes down on Penny's head and hops out.
Bleeding Gums Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slice Penny.

Penny drives through and clinches with Murphy against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Penny.
Murphy looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Penny ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Penny no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Penny escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murphy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Murphy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Murphy stands up and waves to Penny to follow him.
Murphy shoots in for a double leg but Penny sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Murphy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Penny pinned against the cage. Penny gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Murphy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Penny lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Penny lands with a nice body kick.
Penny swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Murphy closes the distance and clinches.
Murphy lands an elbow inside.
Penny dodges an elbow strike from Murphy.
Penny has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Penny jumps guard but Murphy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Penny manages to break the clinch.
Murphy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penny swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Murphy fails in his attempt to clinch.

Penny bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Murphy sneaks out the side door and pushes Penny away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

The fight stays on the outside here - Penny looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Murphy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Penny sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Penny tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Murphy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Penny stuffs the takedown attempt from Murphy. Murphy gets slowly back to his feet.

Slice Penny showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Penny is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murphy is just riding it out for now. Penny eventually gives up the hold.
Penny is trying to control the action in half guard but Murphy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murphy is staying active underneath Penny, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Penny takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Penny really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murphy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Penny wants to take a breather but Murphy is having none of it.
Murphy is looking for a sweep. Penny is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Murphy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Penny defends it easily.

Murphy is pulling down on Penny's head. It's preventing any offense from Penny, at least for the moment.

Penny avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Penny decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Murphy, up you get!
Murphy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Murphy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Penny throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Murphy was covering up waiting for the punch and Penny finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Penny wanted to stand there but Murphy had control of the position.

Well Penny has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
