PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucca Fazzio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fazzio's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine. Fred Alexander is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fazzio with a lazy takedown attempt

and Alexander counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fazzio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Alexander avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fred Alexander hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Alexander decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fazzio's guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fazzio enables Alexander to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fazzio manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sloppy strikes from Fazzio. Those never looked like landing.
Fazzio shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Alexander is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Alexander wants to pass the guard but Fazzio is keeping the position.

Alexander remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well Alexander has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
