The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weed shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smirnov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Smirnov can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smirnov is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Smirnov works his way to full guard. Good work.
Smirnov is pulling down on Weed's head. It's preventing any offense from Weed, at least for the moment.

Smirnov pulls Weed in close to his closed guard and prevents Weed from doing any damage or advancing position.
Smirnov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Weed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Smirnov is tightening it up a little... Weed has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Weed reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Weed taps out! Nice BJJ there by Smirnov!
