PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Loco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Barry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, El Loco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hank Barry!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Loco shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Barry napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Loco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Barry is looking for a sweep.
Barry sneaks back into half guard.
Barry tries to roll over but Loco keeps him under control.
Barry is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Barry won't allow Loco to pass to mount.

Loco is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Barry slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Barry wants to sweep here but Loco controlling him for the moment.

Barry is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Barry keeping moving, preventing Loco from controlling successfully.
Loco has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Loco drops back looking for a leg! Barry is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barry manages to kick Loco off! Loco jumps back into Barry's guard.

Barry is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Loco defends well.

Barry working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Loco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Loco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Loco won't allow Barry to sweep him here.
Barry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Barry lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Barry is trying to work for a kimura but Loco is defending well.
Barry throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Loco to regain full guard.
Loco is breathing heavily.
Barry cracks Loco with a solid left hand.

Barry content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Barry works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Barry working over Loco with some ground and pound. Loco looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The referee warns Loco that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Barry is landing with some decent strikes but Loco is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Loco is bucking up trying to escape but Barry cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Barry lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Barry has hold of Loco's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Loco manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Barry scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Loco?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Barry is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Loco to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Loco shrugs it off.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hank Barry dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Barry.
Barry has a takedown stuffed.

Loco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barry was covering up waiting for the punch and Loco finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Barry manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Loco manages to get himself to full guard.

Loco is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Barry wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barry is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Loco rolls with it to try and escape but Barry cranks on the arm and Loco is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hank Barry!
Hank Barry bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
