PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marrell Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). StPierre comes to the cage accompanied by Flo Rida - Good Feeling. Jones is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I'm So Raw. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
StPierre is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
StPierre tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.

and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones stops StPierre from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

StPierre looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jones has picked StPierre up and slammed him! StPierre can't keep hold of the triangle and Jones manages to pass to side control!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

StPierre wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marrell Jones dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
George StPierre is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
StPierre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
StPierre closes the distance but Jones moves to the side

StPierre is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
StPierre is striking off his back. Jones thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Jones uses his free foot to push down on StPierre's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for StPierre.

Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

StPierre moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. StPierre was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

StPierre moves out of range of the body kick from Jones.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. StPierre looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but StPierre is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
You can see the frustration on StPierre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fight stays on the outside here - StPierre looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Marrell Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
