Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adam Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hector DeLuca!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeLuca is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Steel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Steel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. DeLuca sprawls well initially but Steel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Steel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Steel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
DeLuca is trying to get back to full guard.
DeLuca wants to get back to his feet.
Steel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Steel is trying to control. DeLuca wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Steel is looking to advance position but DeLuca won't allow it.

Steel seems to be working for a kimura but DeLuca defends the submission attempt.

Steel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Steel missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

DeLuca is looking for a sweep. Steel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
DeLuca has hold of Steel's hands but Steel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
DeLuca trying to hold on to Steel's head to control him but Steel postures up.

Steel decides to stand up.

DeLuca darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Steel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Steel kicks DeLuca off and gets back to his feet.

Steel closes the distance and clinches.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Steel as DeLuca tries to tie him up.
DeLuca gets through Steel's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

DeLuca has hold of one of Steel's legs. Steel is fighting the takedown attempt but DeLuca gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
DeLuca prevents Steel from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

DeLuca drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Steel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now DeLuca has Steel in his guard.
Steel is looking to work some ground and pound but DeLuca has wrist control.

Steel postures up in DeLuca's guard and throws a big left but DeLuca blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steel decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
DeLuca tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Steel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
DeLuca swats away the attempt to clinch by Steel.
The fight stays on the outside here - DeLuca looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Steel dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Steel ducks under a wild hook from DeLuca.

DeLuca is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Steel's half guard.
Steel is controlling DeLuca's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Steel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Steel tries to roll over but DeLuca keeps him under control.
DeLuca looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Steel controlling the position for now.

Steel is pressing down on DeLuca's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Steel pushes DeLuca off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - DeLuca looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A looping hook to the body misses from DeLuca. Steel does a little dance to reset his feet.
DeLuca tries to clinch but Steel is having none of it.
Steel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. DeLuca manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
DeLuca fails in his attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - DeLuca looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Steel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

DeLuca can't do much from the bottom here.
The strikes coming from Steel are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ground and pound from Steel seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Steel stands up.

Steel darts in and clinches DeLuca up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steel tries to score a body lock takedown but DeLuca shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Steel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Steel gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Steel has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. DeLuca is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Steel manages to break the clinch.
DeLuca is looking to clinch.
DeLuca gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Steel keeps the fight on the outside.
DeLuca tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Steel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

DeLuca closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Steel did well to prevent DeLuca getting side control.
DeLuca is looking to stall here but Steel recovers full guard.
Steel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for DeLuca!

DeLuca tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Steel looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



DeLuca looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Steel!

DeLuca goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Steel turns into him and now he's in DeLuca's guard.
DeLuca is trying to control the position but Steel postures up.
Steel stands and throws DeLuca's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Steel fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Steel lands a decent elbow from side control.

Steel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. DeLuca knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Steel decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Steel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Steel lands in his opponent's guard.
Steel trying to control the position from guard on top but DeLuca is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Steel throws a big elbow that misses.

DeLuca utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
DeLuca keeping full guard, as Steel tries to pass.

Adam Steel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Steel is looking to clinch.
Steel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Steel has closed the distance and engaged DeLuca in a clinch.
Steel lands with a short shot to the head.
DeLuca trying to control the position but instead, Steel has worked for underhooks and has pushed DeLuca into the cage.

Steel pulls guard successfully.
DeLuca pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Steel is keeping the position for now.
Adam Steel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Steel holds on and takes a little breather.
DeLuca wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.
Steel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hector DeLuca has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DeLuca throws a right hand that Steel ducks under and follows up with a left that Steel also avoids with ease.
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch up but DeLuca swats him away and circles back towards the center.
DeLuca throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Steel.

And that's the end of the fight!
Adam Steel showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
