Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross misses with a takedown attempt - Schmidt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Schmidt throws a body kick that misses.

Schmidt moves into range and clinches up with Ross.
Ross changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Schmidt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Schmidt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Schmidt drops his shoulder and cracks Ross with a huge uppercut! Ross goes down! Can Schmidt finish him?

It looks like James Ross has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schmidt is looking to stand up but Ross won't let him.

Ross controls Schmidt momentarily but Schmidt frees himself.
Schmidt throws and elbow that misses. Ross uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schmidt's guard. Nice move by Ross!
Ross seems to have recovered his senses.

Ross seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Schmidt drops Ross with a right and a left! Schmidt comes rushing in but Ross regains his composure and manages to keep Schmidt in guard.
