Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Gooze!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gooze closes the distance and clinches up with McCowan, looking for a takedown. Gooze pushes McCowan against the cage but McCowan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McCowan tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Gooze counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gooze.

Gooze has gone for a leg lock! McCowan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gooze's guard.

Gooze is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gooze looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gooze has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCowan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gooze working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because McCowan has passed into half guard!

McCowan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Gooze is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McCowan pulls his head out easily.
McCowan works his way into side control.

Gooze gets back to half guard.

McCowan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Gooze looking for submissions off his back.
Gooze is trying to get back to full guard.

McCowan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gooze actively working from the bottom here.
Gooze tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McCowan has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Gooze really wants to buck McCowan off and get back to his feet.
Gooze keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

McCowan controlling the pace for now.
Gooze tries to reverse the position but McCowan maintains control.
McCowan looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
McCowan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gooze is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gooze sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Gooze dominated that round.
That's time! McCowan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McCowan is looking to clinch.
Gooze gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McCowan counters with a nice uppercut.
McCowan misses with a double jab.

McCowan closes the distance and clinches.
McCowan lands a shoulder strike.
McCowan's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
McCowan digs a right hand into Gooze's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gooze's gas tank.
Gooze is trying to drag McCowan to the mat but McCowan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
McCowan stops a takedown attempt from Gooze.
Tony McCowan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Gooze.
Gooze is breathing heavily.
Gooze drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCowan is trying to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCowan drops Gooze with a big knee straight up the middle! Gooze is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


Gooze is rocked!


It looks like Ryan Gooze has been cut.
Gooze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McCowan counters with a huge right that knocks Gooze out cold! McCowan is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tony McCowan!
