The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Creture with that takedown attempt.
Creture fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rodriguez steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Creture. That one must have hurt.

Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt - Creture sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rodriguez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Creture wants to get back to full guard but Rodriguez has passed into side control.
Creture is trying desperately to improve position.
Creture wants to hold on but Rodriguez pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodriguez pushes Creture off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Rodriguez shoots in looking for a takedown. Creture tries to sprawl out of it but Rodriguez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Creture manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Creture lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rodriguez!

Creture is not content to let Rodriguez control the position.

Creture wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Creture tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rodriguez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Creture won't be happy with that.

Rodriguez is looking to take a break and control but Creture is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Creture is trying to control Rodriguez's posture but Rodriguez avoids it.
Creture tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rodriguez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rodriguez tries to move to mount but Creture blocks the move with his legs.
Rodriguez is looking to take a break and control but Creture is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rodriguez wants to stand but Creture has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Creture working for a triangle but Rodriguez defends it easily.

Rodriguez stands and throws Creture's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Rodriguez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rodriguez controls the position.
Rodriguez scores with a couple of short elbows.

Rodriguez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Creture, who protects the arm well.

Rodriguez is working to tighten is grip on Creture's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Creture has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Rodriguez is really squeezing tight and eventually Creture passes out! Rodriguez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
