Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rod Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vicenzo Scamozzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez comes into the arena with Bad Company blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Rod Melendez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rod Melendez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scamozzi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Melendez pinned against the cage. Melendez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Scamozzi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Scamozzi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Scamozzi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Melendez circles away.
Rod Melendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vicenzo Scamozzi.
Scamozzi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Scamozzi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Melendez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Melendez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Scamozzi to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Melendez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scamozzi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Scamozzi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Melendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Melendez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Scamozzi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Melendez connects with a nice short shot to Scamozzi's temple.
Melendez works his foot free and advances to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
