The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Santiago's head.

Jones turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jones manages to end up in side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Santiago has escaped the position, nice work there.
Santiago is not content to let Jones control the position.

Jones tries for a kimura but Santiago is defending well.

Jones is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Santiago keeps working.
Santiago sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Jones is stalling here. Santiago is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jones seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Santiago has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Santiago keeps moving and retains side control.

Santiago tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Jones manages to get back to half guard.

Santiago is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Santiago is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Santiago eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jones manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Santiago drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones!
Santiago manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Santiago keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jones trying to mount his opponent but Santiago defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santiago wants to get back to full guard.

Santiago is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jones moves nicely into side control.

Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Santiago has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by Santiago.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santiago paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Santiago misses with a takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Santiago will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Santiago is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santiago knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jones is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Santiago!
Jones postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Santiago looks a forlorn figure.

Santiago tries to reverse the position but Jones maintains control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones lands a big shot there that rocks Santiago but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


Santiago is rocked!
Jones unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Santiago wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Jones celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
