PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Junior Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dhe Orele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johns comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the jungle. Orele has chosen Ironman as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dhe Orele will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dhe Orele!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Orele keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johns walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Johns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Johns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Orele manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Orele wants to get back to his feet but Johns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Johns in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Orele has his feet on Johns's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Orele throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Orele throws a jab but it's blocked by Johns.

Johns fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Orele to the ground. Johns is now in Orele's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johns makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Johns throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Orele works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Orele slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Orele's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Johns is really stuck here.

Johns tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Orele has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Johns wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Orele is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Junior Johns will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Orele tries to clinch but Johns is having none of it.
Johns throws a big shot that misses.
Johns shoots in but no luck this time.
Orele throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Johns misses with a looping right.
Orele tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johns paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Orele throws a sloppy head kick and Johns moves out of range easily.

Orele fails to land with a series of punches.

Johns throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Orele tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johns is in Orele's guard.

Johns drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Orele dives on top into guard.

Orele wanted to stand there but Johns had control of the position.
Johns might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Johns is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Orele defends well.

Johns throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Orele escapes and throws Johns's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Orele manages to capitalize on a mistake by Johns to take his back!

Orele is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Johns is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Orele pulls his head out easily.

Orele wants to control but Johns is keeping busy.
Orele keeps control of the position as Johns tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Orele is trying to stick to Johns's back but Johns is turning into Orele. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Orele's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Johns.
Junior Johns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Junior Johns will probably get the nod.

and Orele counters with a three punch combo that has Johns backing up. Johns nods at Orele to acknowledge the strikes.

Orele's corner calls for a 1-2. Orele obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Orele wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johns tries to score a body lock takedown but Orele shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Johns fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Orele manages to avoid it.

Dhe Orele is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Orele has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Orele lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Orele scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Johns fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Orele avoids it really well and circles away.

Johns throws a chopping leg kick but Orele manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Dhe Orele seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Johns takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Orele avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Orele connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Johns's hands.
Johns moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Johns takes a swing at Orele's ribcage but misses.

Johns bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johns throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Check out the look on Johns's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Orele is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Johns has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Orele gets back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johns is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Orele sees it coming and defends easily.

Johns wants to lay and pray for a moment but Orele keeps working.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
