Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mason Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Penn showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Penn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dixon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Penn prevents Dixon from improving his position.
Dixon is working hard here to advance position.

Dixon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Penn pulls his head out easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dixon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Dixon working for a triangle but Penn defends it easily.
Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dixon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dixon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Penn content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Dixon has locked up a guillotine! Dixon's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Penn is holding on here and Dixon must be using up a lot of energy. Penn has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Dixon gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
